Buckinghamshire has a brand new integrated therapy team which forms part of a wider children and young people’s service including Speech and Language Therapists, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists , Health Visitors and School Nurses. Our team of clinicians use iPads with children for therapy, they use a wide range of apps and tools on the iPad for assessment, therapy, demonstration and motivation. We will be able to use iPads for our electronic health care records soon.We have a superb interactive website which is being accessed internationally and provides information and support to families and people working with children in Buckinghamshire. We have exciting plans for the future, such as a Members Log in area, and interactive training modules. We use a wide variety of evidence-based therapy approaches with children. For example, staff are trained to use Shape Coding by Susan Ebbels ® (Ebbels 2007), Lego therapy (LeGoff 2004), Social Thinking (Garcia Winner 2007), SCERTS (Prizant et al 2006), naturalistic speech work (Camarata 2010). Therapy can be delivered individually, in groups or flexibly as the child and setting require. The work involves supporting children  5-18 with complex needs in mainstream schools. You may see the young person individually, in small groups or within the classroom setting. You will be required to deliver regular therapy and train education staff to support the children effectively. There are opportunities to work closely with our occupational therapy and physiotherapy colleague to provide an integrated approach to the development of skills.We are looking for therapists who are enthusiastic, innovative with excellent communication ability and a desire to continue to develop clinical and professional skills with a specialist group of children including those with AAC and dysphagia needs. Applicants will have the opportunity to work within a dynamic and supportive team of therapists delivering high quality SLT services to children and young people sharing expertise to enable the best education and functional outcomes for our children and young people.We have a strong commitment to CPD with regular clinical supervision.
