These explain the job role and the type of person we are looking for.  The main terms and conditions of employment are also available via the above link.You will provide an effective Social Work Service to vulnerable adults, children and their families in line with Council policy and national standards.Fife Council pays the Scottish Local Government Living Wage Rate to employees earning less than £8.51 per hour. If the hourly rate of pay for the post is less than the Scottish Local Government Living Wage Rate a supplement will be paid.RequirementsDiploma in Social Work or equivalent.An accredited post-qualifying award (e.g. Certificate in Child Protection Studies, Mental Health Officer Accreditation, Practice Teacher Award, etc.), or ability to achieve this within a period of 2 years.Before confirming appointment, you will be required to be registered with and obtain Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme Membership through Disclosure Scotland.ResponsibilitiesYou will undertake professional supervision of newly qualified social workers and social work assistants within area teams and carry a small caseload of children and families cases where required.You will also oversee the development of thorough and informed assessments of cases in order to provide logical and coherently presented recommendations for further action designed to enable children to remain with their birth families wherever this is in their best interests, and development of permanent high quality alternative care plans if remaining at home is not appropriate.Contribute to the development of a high quality professional Children and Families Service and reduce levels of risk to service users and others.The IndividualConsiderable experience in a relevant setting is essential together with significant post-qualifying experience providing statutory social work services.Knowledge and understanding of Child and Adult Protection guidelines and information sharing protocols is essential.Experience of joint working to achieve common goals.In Fife Council how we work matters and you will be responsible for being a role model by displaying and promoting behaviours that are expected of all Council employees:Take ownershipFocus on customersWork togetherEmbrace technology & informationDeliver resultsFor further information please contact: Joanne MacLeod, Team Manager, Children & Families Team 2 – 03451 555555 Ext 440564 – joanne.macleod@fife.gov.uk View full job description
