These explain the job role and the type of person we are looking for.  The main terms and conditions of employment are also available via the above link.Providing an effective Social Work Service to vulnerable adults, children and their families in line with Council policy and national standards.RequirementsDiploma in Social Work or equivalentAn accredited post-qualifying award (e.g. Certificate in Child Protection Studies, Mental Health Officer Accreditation, Practice Teacher Award, etc.)Significant post-qualifying experience and an accredited post-qualifying training award (see attached list) or willingness to work towards post-qualifying award within 2 years.The pattern of working hours will be determined for individual remits and on occasions may include evenings and weekends. There will be a requirement to attend meetings outwith normal working hours, when necessary, subject to service user and staff availability. There will also be a requirement to attend outwith normal working hours for development, training, registration compliance etc when necessary.Before confirming appointment, you will be required to obtain PVG scheme membership through Disclosure Scotland, in addition to which registration with the Scottish Social Services Council is essential.ResponsibilitiesTo undertake professional supervision of qualified social workers within area teams.To carry a small caseload of children and families cases where required.To oversee the development of thorough and informed assessments of cases in order to provide logical and coherently presented recommendations for further action designed to enable children to remain with their birth families wherever this is in their best interests.To oversee the development of permanent high quality alternative care plans if remaining at home is not appropriate. Contribute to the development of a high quality professional Children and Families Service.Reduce levels of risk to service users and others.Undertake assessment of need and risk as directed by the Line Manager.Contribute to complex assessments of need and risk.Contribute to/development of care/action plans.Maintain service user/carer contact as required.Promoting/maintaining independence and inclusion.Participate in multi-agency meetings as required.Work in collaboration with partners e.g. Health Service, Education, Police and voluntary sector agencies.Achieve the objective within Social Work Service improvement plan in terms of performance, people, partnerships and promotion of equal opportunities.Improve the outcomes for service users.Promote the interests of service users and carers in terms of rights, opportunities, culture and diversity.Ensuring that service users receive an outcome focussed service.Ensuring that risk assessment and risk management are central to achieving good outcomes.Ensure that all interventions and engagement with service users contribute to improving outcomes.Application of knowledge and judgement.The IndividualConsiderable experience in a relevant settingKnowledge and understanding of Child and Adult Protection guidelines and information sharing protocolsExperience of joint working to achieve common goalsSignificant post-qualifying experience providing statutory social work servicesKnowledge of service policies and procedures and resourcesEvidence of ability to promote equality and diversityAbility to interpret data and analyse informationSkills in negotiating, problem solving, communication, report writing and use of ITAwareness and understanding of the role of carers and families and the impact this may have on health and well-beingEffective writing and verbal skillsAbility to communicate and present information clearly within a variety of settingsKnowledge of professional practice models and standardsKnowledge, skills and experience of utilising a variety of interventions in working with groups and individualsCommitment to service user participation principlesDemonstrable capacity to operate at senior level, with complex cases, providing an expert professional serviceAbility to travel throughout Fife In Fife Council How We Work Matters and you will be responsible for being a role model by displaying and promoting behaviours that are expected of all Council employees:Take ownershipFocus on customersWork togetherEmbrace technology & informationDeliver results For further information please contact: Kimberley Hankin, 03451 55 55 55 + Ext 476776 or email  View full job description
