JOB TITLE:                             Support Worker / Leaving Care Mentor  ACCOUNTABLE TO:             Manager / Director ABOUT US:Advance Social Care nurtures and develops young people to ensure they achieve the best transition and pathway into their adult life and beyond. We are a specialist service that provides Semi Supported / Group Living Accommodation, Floating Support with Accommodation and Floating Support to young people in the Northwest. All our accommodations and floating support provisions specialise in support for 16 – 18 year old young people leaving care, young people at risk of homeless, young people seeking asylum and refugee. Our mission is to offer a world class and one stop service to all young people leaving care, at risk of homeless, seeking asylum and refugee by encompassing quality, safe and secure accommodation and a bespoke level of care. We thrive to provide excellent support to enable young people to make a successful transition into adulthood and beyond. We are now seeking talented, passionate and experienced support workers / leaving care mentors who share and believe in our passion to work in our New Semi Supported / Group Living home in Burnley. This will require working and supporting young people with varying levels of needs. RESPONSIBILITIES:1. To work directly with young people and to work in partnership with multi agency services / staff to develop the skills and abilities of a young person.2. Support all young people with their daily / living needs within the Semi Supported / Group Living home and beyond.3. Demonstrate a high level of self motivation and initiative to inspire, motivate and guide young people on their pathway to independence and adulthood e.g. provide advice, guidance and demonstration around budgeting, cooking, cleaning, washing, CV, interview skills, personal safety, managing accommodation etc.4. Promote the rights and interests of all young people whilst ensuring there are safe and protected from harm. Ensuring the highest level of safeguarding whilst promoting independence and life skills.5. To identify and support young people with activities / voluntary options that may be beneficial and stimulating to their development and futures.6. Help fill in forms e.g. benefit forms, college and employment applications.7. Provide emotional support to young people as and when required.8. Manage presenting conflict and challenge from young people with positive outcomes.9. Effectively run the daily duties and tasks within the Semi Supported / Group Living home setting.10. Attend LAC reviews, pathways reviews, appointments and any other meetings with young people if required.11. Undertake accurate case recordings. REQUIRED EXPERIENCEMust have a minimum of one year experience of working with children and young people within a leaving care / residential / children's home.Must hold a valid driving license along with business insurance.Can comply with our Safer Recruitment Policy Provide / undertake a valid Enhanced DBS check.POSITIONSThe positions are for Full Time and possibly Part Time roles and will involve working either shift rotas or fixed work patterns from between 4pm to 9:30am Monday to Sunday, including HOURLY paid overnight sleep ins.
