We are currently seeking Support Workers to join our Adult Mental Health and Intellectual Disabilities Low Secure Service, located in the village of Barham, 9 miles South East of Canterbury and less than one mile from the A2.The Huntercombe Hospital, Cedar House- near CanterburyThe hospital is a 40 bed low secure hospital that provides specialist assessments, treatment and care for adults with intellectual disabilities, personality disorders or autistic spectrum disorders, including those with challenging behaviours and forensic histories.We work collaboratively with our patients and their families or carers and provide person-centred care and support. We employ staff in a variety of different roles and provide ongoing support with comprehensive training, learning and development opportunities.The hospital is located in the village of Barham, 9 miles South East of Canterbury and less than one mile from the A2.We’re looking for caring and committed individuals who want to work with a company that understands how important Support Workers are to our patients/ residents recovery.Many of our patients arrive with complex and challenging needs. At Huntercombe Support Workers work in small teams with nurses, doctors, therapists and other experts, and together they make a world of difference to people’s lives.Most patients and residents are referred via NHS and local authorities. We play an integral part in contributing to new models of care outlined in the Five Year Forward View.Job Summary:• Providing an excellent caring service in conjunction with the qualified nursing team• Being actively involved in patient care• maintaining and developing high standards of care for our patients while being aware of their individual needs and care programmes• Contributing towards effective communication, by reporting to nurse in charge any information given by patient/relative, incident or observation which may affect patients' physical/mental well-being• Contributing to the maintenance of safe and comfortable ward environment in accordance with health and safety standardsTo join the Huntercombe Group as a Support Worker you will be:• Passionate about forming therapeutic relationships with people• Committed to a person-centred approach to recovery• Enthusiastic about working as part of a dedicated team• Resilient and able to work under pressure• Previous experience working in care or the health sector would be an advantage but not essentialIn return we offer you:• A thorough induction programme tailored to the hospital where you will be working• Clear pay structure, with competitive rates• Generous annual leave entitlement• Sick pay of 4 weeks full pay and 4 weeks half pay• The opportunity to participate in a company contributory pension scheme with up to 3% matching contributions• Maternity leave at 3 month’s full pay and 3 month’s half pay, (up to a maximum salary of £50k)• 2 weeks paid paternity leave• Shared parental leave, matching the maternity leave benefit• Death in service benefit equivalent to 2 x salary• A range of staff discounts• Opportunity to train to become a nurse through our ‘grow our own’ nurses programme• Access to Myfamilycare services which provides support and information at critical life events including access to experts and emergency care services• Employee Assistance Programme (EAP)An enhanced DBS (England) or PVG/Disclosure Scotland (Scotland) Disclosure will be required for all successful applicants.
