Down. This is an outstanding opportunity to further develop your career path and work in a challenging, professional, progressive and autonomous environment. Key Objectives:To assist the Technical and NPD Manager in ensuring that company technical requirements are met through developing and maintaining quality systems aligned with and surpassing customer standards.  Interact with the Site technical and operations teams to drive standards and customer expectations forward to ensure company reputation and position in the market are maintained. To lead the technical team, developing and delivering against set processes and practices, and helping to ensure that products are manufactured to meet the food safety and quality standards required both by law and by our customers through verification of standards.  It is important also that the role holder nurtures positive relationships with customers and external agencies.  In addition they should identify opportunities and deliver solutions for continuous business improvement.Standards and systems: Demonstrates an understanding of operating integrity and has high standards for compliance and quality. Sets high standards and champions the business to adhere to these standards. Capable of introducing new processes, procedures and systems to enhance the business.Finance: Demonstrates financial understanding and business acumen and delivery against targets and always looks to reduce costs where possible.Customer and consumer focus: Is commercially aware and proactively drives the quality management to meet the requirements of the quality standards.Leadership and communication: Is able to provide clear direction to direct reports and is able to inspire and motivate across the business. The role holder can communicate strongly to internal and external customers. Team working:  Demonstrates an ability to work as an active and constructive member of a team as well as lead own functional teams.Information management: Demonstrates that information is used and managed correctly. Champions the use of improvement in informationPrior experience  Solid experience with technical systems and standards and management within manufacturing (F.M.C.G., Meat Products). Experience of working in a Manufacturing/Production company that supplies into the major U.K./Irish retailers. Experience of working with Operations and Supply Chain Management, Logistic & Planning, Change Management, Project Management, Strategy development, Quality Assurance, Continuous Improvement (TPM etc.)Direct experience of change management at a middle management level.Strong track record of successful team management.Personal Attributes: Excellent communication and team working skills with the capability to communicate confidently internally & externally, and to build and develop strong customer relationships.Strong leadership qualities, with the ability to motivate, coach and manage a small team.Able to work within an agreed established framework and cope with pressure.Strong conceptual and analytical skills, with the ability to take a logical and structured approach to decision making.Results oriented, with determination to deliver the best possible outcomes and strong change management skills.Tactical thought process, able to challenge convention and identify alternative ways of working. High levels of professionalism, integrity and ethical awareness.Determined, resilient and self motivated, with the drive to complete tasks.Key Tasks & Responsibilities: Assess and deliver both suppliers and own company's product specifications and customer requirements through communicating and training against developments in standards and specifications.Work alongside the senior management team and support the Technical and NPD Manager to assist in delivering technical compliance or expansion to national and international legislative standards as applicable.Take ownership of developing process controls with the operations team to deliver excellence in microbiological and nutritional results, in turn extending shelf life and processing a more consistent product for the consumer.Ensure tests, procedures and evaluations are properly understood and communicated, and carried out as per our customer codes of practice.Ensure that where product modifications are made that any additional testing, system review or analysis required to ensure that the product meets specification as necessary is carried out in a timely and organised manner.Produce weekly and monthly technical KPI’s for communication to the site team and drive continuous improvement in these KPI’s through the use of specific action group meetings.Assessing the complaint analysis and instigating a thorough investigation process in order to resolve customer concerns. Liaise with customers' auditors; responsible for ensuring management of execution of corrective actions and ongoing compliance with customers' specifications and Codes of Practice.Advise management and innovation team on technical/legislative implications in relation to current and new products or manufacturing processes.  Keep close to NGO activity to ensure that the site management team understand the implications of new legislation.To support the Technical and NPD Manager, on behalf of the senior management team, a review process to evaluate compliance with the BRC Global Standard for Food Safety, any customer manufacturing standard requirements in accordance with the requirements of that Standard, including co-hosting the audits.Support the Technical and NPD Manager in maintaining purchase order expenditure in line with departmental overheads and budgets, including proposing and driving suitable capital expenditure plans.Establish and implement necessary communication strategy for the improvement and awareness of quality issues across all departments.Coordinate and supervise the activities of Quality Assurance, Quality Systems and Specifications teams through active task management and regular progress updates.Facilitate, coach, motivate and develop all employees to achieve and improve quality standards, acting on ideas and suggestions, ensuring their development and improved performance.Direct, motivate and control team members to deliver required outputs. Influence peers and superiors to establish and achieve necessary standards. Identify training needs through regular skills appraisals and performance reviews within the department to meet current and future skill requirements while providing training and development for team members to achieve and exceed required standards.This is an outstanding career opportunity for a suitably experienced Technical Manager to grow their career further with an industry recognised market leader.
