As a Trainee Programme Manager, you will have exposure to Qioptiq’s products and the various steps involved in their design and manufacture. You will follow a personalised development plan which will include internal training and accredited external Project Management training courses, enabling you to assume responsibility for multiple projects and programmes, with their number and complexity growing in line with your development plan.As you develop into the role of Programme Manager, you’ll take responsibility for the delivery of products and services to time, cost and specification expectations. In addition, you’ll work with Engineering, Operations and Quality teams to ensure products meet the exceptionally-high standards, and regularly present progress and performance of projects to the Qioptiq leadership team and customers.What will I need to be considered for this Trainee Programme Manager vacancy?You’ll have familiarity with the responsibilities of, and tools used by, a project/programme manager in an engineering or manufacturing environment, gained through personal research or through experience in a similar Project Engineer / Co-ordinator / Manager role, in addition to:• A good standard of education beyond secondary-school (e.g. degree, HNC or HND)• A passion for learning about Qioptiq’s business, its products, processes and markets• Open to further study and training in project and programme management and willing to assume responsibility for achieving the goals agreed in your personal development plan• Superb communication skills and the ability to forge strong working relationships across the business• Excellent level of IT literacy with strong knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint and Word).Although not essential, a technical or scientific background would be highly advantageous, as you’ll need to be able to hold technically credible dialog with engineering and production teams on a daily basis.What will I receive in return?You’ll be part of a global organisation and have the opportunity to follow a structured-development path leading to a key role within the business, and gain Association for Project Management (APM) qualifications and have relevant membership fees supported by the company.Salary: £26,131 to £27,778, level dependent on experienceAttractive Benefits: 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays, free car parking, stakeholder pension scheme (with company contribution) includes Life Assurance at x8 salary, learning and development opportunities, bonus plan (profit share), healthcare scheme, cycle to work scheme, childcare voucher scheme, subsidised canteen, and on site occupational health support.Hours of Work: 36 hours per week, Monday to Thursday: 8.15am - 16.45pm, Friday: 8.15am -12.15pm.
