The successful candidate must possess a full clean UK/EU driving licence and be able to evidence their experience working within a workshop background.Job SummaryOur Workshop teams are pivotal in enabling Operations to deliver safe and consistently reliable customer service. With a varied fleet our workshop teams are responsible for maintaining, diagnosing and repairing our vehicles and specialised Ground Support Equipment to the highest of standards.  Working as part of team you will ensure asset up time is maximised and equipment is maintained in accordance with Swissport’s stringent standards. A sound knowledge of equipment based hydraulic and electrical systems would be advantageous in this position, with the ability to work well under pressure, making decisions regarding equipment is essential.Shift work and overtime will be required. We offer a competitive remuneration package and generous benefits.Job ResponsibilitiesManage the fleet workshops in accordance with Health & Safety regulations, assist in compilation and development of Risk Assessments and Safe Systems of Work.Ensure that all staff are aware of and adhere to the relevant risk management standards.Ensure that contractors working in premises or on vehicles on behalf of Swissport or otherwise are aware of and adhere to the relevant risk management standards.Ensure safe systems of work are implemented in all aspects of workshop activity.Maintain an efficient maintenance organization, manage the workshop and staff ensuring effective maintenance and repair facilities for all vehicles/equipment under the designated area of responsibility. Undertake the line management local staff in the workshop environment, ensuring Swissport procedures and regulatory compliance of the fleet is adhered to at all times.  Advise the Workshop Manager and others on the technical aspects of vehicle/equipment specification and maintenance. To also advise on the workshops function having particular regard to the training, qualification and experience necessary for staff to provide an effective service delivery.Responsibility for ensuring that service delivery is provided to the operation and others within the area and to ensure that vehicles and equipment are available to enable a 24 hour per day operational function, 365 day a year.Manage and update the ‘Fleet Management’ system in line with Swissport procedures.Deliver performance in line with workshop KPI’s constantly looking to drive improvement in all areas of workshop delivery Responsible for all aspects of repair and maintenance of Swissport vehicles/equipment and allocated equipment, including deployment and management of all workshop and administration staff within the designated area of responsibility.Responsible for conducting staff PDR’s, training and development of staff in technical and regulatory requirements.Responsible for prioritizing and managing work for the fleet workshops, maximising workshop productivity, reducing down time and optimising the availability of the fleet.Manage the budgets of the workshops within the designated area of responsibility, with particular reference to labour and parts spend.Be responsible for workshop stores facility, overseeing the ordering of vehicle parts, spares and tyres, ensuring that correct stock levels are maintained and redundant stock is removed and disposed of in line with Trust procedures.  Recommend any additional workshop equipment required for new or existing fleet vehicles.To manage the PDI process for new vehicles/equipment to include the commissioning and de-commissioning of all vehicles/equipment onto and off the fleet.Manage the integration and documentation of all new equipment and vehicles on fleet and assist with compilation of risk assessments and SSOW for new equipment in line with health and safety requirements.Deputize for peers and/ or the Workshop Manager as and when required.Communicate and maintain a professional and effective working relationship with colleagues and customers.Ensure item disposal is carried out in accordance with Swissport disposal procedures.  Maintain a standard of cleanliness of the workshop environment and to report any building or equipment defects to the Workshop/Regional Manager immediately in line with 6S Audits.Attend courses and undertake training and development activities to ensure Continuing Professional Development.Participate in any associated training that may be required from time to time, to be able to contribute to the successful achievement of Swissport's business/strategic objectives.Will be required to impart knowledge and provide assistance to enable the development of other employees when required.Be flexible within working hours, covering weekend working and weekend call out rota, enabling fleet to provide 24/7 365 days per year cover for maintained fleet.     Ensure compliance with all Swissport and local processes and procedures.Other DutiesAs part of the Swissport responsibilities towards its employees your attention is drawn to the following information which has been collated to raise awareness of aspects of governance, standards and safety.   Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain the comprehensive listing of all activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job. Duties, responsibilities and activities may change at any time with or without notice.Qualifications & CompetenciesMinimum of 5 years successful management of a team of maintenance staffEvidence of advanced theoretical and practical knowledge across the broad range specialist fields encompassed within vehicle engineering. Developing and implementing a quality approach to service delivery e.g.Strong computer systems and applications Skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, Office 365, SharePoint and hand-held technology).  Experience in using a modern fleet management system.A good level of mechanical/electrical/hydraulic engineering experience is required.Technical Apprenticeship to NVQ Level 3 or equivalent.  Capacity to balance time constraints and a heavy workload while managing employees and projectsSound knowledge of Workshop Health and Safety legislation A knowledge of lean techniques and the application of 6S management plans and activities.Strong degree of autonomy, take the initiative and work with minimal supervisionExcellent communication and interpersonal skills.Effective problem-solving skills.Ability to travel to and from work at times where public transport is not available.Ability to follow Swissport processes and procedures.Willingness to work in inclement weather.Physically fit, able to work in a manual environment and repeatedly lift to 25kg throughout a shift.Able to work as a team in a fast-paced environment.Strong work ethic with a can-do attitude.A full valid UK driving license and ideally a Forklift Operators Licence.Previous experience working in an aviation environment is desired.Good computer (PC) skills, maintenance programs, e.g. Maximo is essential.Ability to schedule corrective and preventative maintenance and issue works orders using Maximo is essential.
