The main Terms and Conditions and employment are available via the same link. RequirementsThe purpose of the Youth Worker is to engage effectively with young people in their own communities and to contribute towards their learning and development by using a range of educational practices and approaches.Youth Workers support young people on an individual and group basis to:Realise their potential and to overcome the many challenges and barriers that young people face in life.Build their self-esteem and self-confidence.Consider risk, make reasoned choices and take control of their own lives.Develop a ‘world view’ which widens horizons and invites social commitment.Build the capacity of young people through acquisition of knowledge and the development of skills.Youth Workers will be responsible for supporting the planning, organising and evaluating of a wide range of youth work activities as determined by the Senior Youth Worker and/or Community Education Worker.  These activities aim to support the personal, social and educational development of young people. The post holder will also be required to complete all administrative tasks relevant to the position and submit to their Line Manager timeously.Before confirming appointment you will be required to obtain PVG scheme membership through Disclosure Scotland.We pay the Scottish Local Government Living Wage of £8.51 per hour for this post.The IndividualThe post holder should have the skills, abilities and knowledge to:engage positively with groups of young peopledevelop strong, positive and trusting relationshipsdemonstrate an awareness of young people’s issues and development needsact as a positive role model to young peoplework on own initiative and as part of a teamdemonstrate good organisational skillsdemonstrate good time-keeping, be reliable, and prepared to work flexiblymotivate young people and encourage participationdemonstrate good communication skillsrelate to local communityprovide an effective youth work experience for young peopleMust be prepared to undertake and complete core training as a requirement of the post within 1 year of appointment.The post holder should also be IT literate.For further information, please contact: JP.
